Monthly disposable contact lenses for astigmatism

Astigmatism and contact lenses

Despite what you may think, having astigmatism does not make you unique. In fact, 40% of people who require vision correction could obtain better vision with a contact lens for astigmatims.

What is astigmatism?

Astigmatism is simply a condition where the cornea is not perfectly spherical. Think of the cornea as a circle drawn on the side of a round ball.

Now, imagine squeezing the sides of the ball. The shape of the circle will change. The more the ball is squeezed, the more the circle is distorted. More distortion = higher astigmatism.

To add to the complexity, the angle at which the shape is distorted is not not always the same. The angle of distortion is called the axis of teh astigmatism.

A fine balancing act

Frequenct Xcel Toric contact lenses use a unique lens shape to position the lens correctly over the eye. If the lens rotates, vision will blur. If it does not move freely the lens will be uncomfortable. Frequency Xcel Torics unique design balances comfort with vision quality. Clinical studies showed that after 1 months wear, patients found end of day comfort better with frequency Xcel Toric than their previously worn soft contact lens.

My astigmatism is too strong for disposable contact lenses

While that was true just a few years ago, Xcel Toric has changed all that. Xcel is available even for those with a very high degree of astigmatism (up to -3.75DC of cylinder).
