MoistureLoc Contact Lens Solution Removed from Market

Bausch & Lomb has chosen to permenantly remove its MoistureLoc contact lens solution from the market worldwide and recommends that consumers switch to an alternative lenscare solution. This follows reports of unusual trends in a rare eye infection (called Fusarium) in the United States and some parts of Asia.

Bausch and Lomb have provided us with the following statement:

"After thousands of tests on the MoistureLoc product, there is no evidence of product contamination, tampering, counterfeiting or sterility failure. That leads us to conclude that some aspect of the MoistureLoc formula may increase the relative risk of Fusarium infection in very unusual circumstances. We are continuing to investigate this potential link, but in the meantime we are taking the most responsible action in the interests of our consumers by discontinuing the MoistureLoc formula worldwide. We are taking this action globally - even in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, where we have seen no unusual trends in Fusarium infections."

Please dispose of any unused MoistureLoc solution and keep the bottle or bottles to be returned. Phone us on 0800 1696212 to request a Refund Voucher. You must not dispose of the actual bottles as the labels must be returned to recieve any refund. All vouchers must be returned before the 30th of June 2006.

We recommend that users contact their contact lens optician to change to a suitable brand of contact lens solution.

You should always follow the advice of your eye care professional and the directions on the lens care products of your choice. Proper care and cleaning of your contact lenses is the key to healthy contact lens wear. Please take the following precautions:

  • Wash hands with soap and water and dry (lint free method) before handling lenses
  • Wear and replacelenses according to the schedule prescribed by your eye care practitioner
  • Fllow the specific lens cleaning and storage guidelines from your eye care practitioner and solution manufacturer
  • keep the lens case clean and replace every three months

Remove the lenses and consult your practitioner immediately if you experience symptoms such as redness, pain, tearing, increased light sensitivity, blurry vision, discharge or swelling.

To ensure healthy eyes and crisp, clear vision, it is important to have an eye examination on a regular basis.
